Rosscarbery is an ancient seat of learning rich in history and tradition. It is the perfect place to de-stress - to relax - to unwind. "A place apart" where you will be made to feel at home. Celtic Cottages open doors to a picturesque world waiting to be discovered. Celtic Cottages give you the freedom to write your own scenario each morning - to be part of the action or apart from it.

Rosscarbery is a small historic town set in picturesque surroundings overlooking a sandy inlet of the rugged West Cork coastline. The town grew up around a monastery, which was established by St. Fachtna in the latter half of the sixth century. It is now a peaceful place with an attractive Square and nicely decorated buildings with traditional shop fronts.

It was once a university town attracting scholars from continental Europe when Ireland was known as the Island of Saints and Scholars. In recent times it was the birthplace of O'Donovan Rossa, founder member of the Fenian Movement born in Ross Parish in 1831, Tommy Barry, one of the early IRA's most important Generals born in Ross town in 1898, and Michael Collins, the old homestead where he was born in 1890 is now a National Monument dedicated to the memory of the famous leader.
